FARM MEMBERSHIP

What is a Farm Membership?
Becoming a member of a farm is way in which consumers can support a sustainable farm and in return, receive a weekly or monthly bounty of produce throughout the growing season. Members generally buy their share in full at the beginning of the season which enables the farmer to buy seeds, soil amendments, tools, etc. for the upcoming year. Pre-payment gives the farmer some financial security in the otherwise unpredictable world of sustainable farming. While members do share the burden of risk with the farmer, they can also look forward to the pleasure of celebrating the farm bounties, eating healthy, fresh, local produce. Becoming a member gives you an opportunity to eat well and be part of building a truly sustainable local economy.
How does our Farm Membership work?We offer two types of membership options. You can participate in one or both as they offer different products. The Fall and Winter Vegetable Share will provide more perishable cool weather crops on a weekly basis from October through April. The Staple and Storage Crop Share is a pick up as available system which will supply members with grains, beans, and storage vegetables for the winter and into the spring. There are work requirements for the Staple and Storage Crop Share as mentioned in our Member Agreement.

MEMBER AGREEMENT:
2012 MEMBER AGREEMENT -  Fall and Winter Vegetables

Gaia Rising Farm is now offering Fall and Winter Vegetable farm shares for Fall 2012.  Our aim is to grow and provide as much as possible towards our members yearly food needs.
We are a small farm dedicated to growing delicious, regionally specific food.  We are developing a knowledge base for what different crop varieties grow well in the Pacific Northwest.  A big part of what we are working on is diversity. Diversity of crop types and diversity of varieties is important for a more secure food supply.  If one crop or variety fails because of weather or disease another might do well.  Among this year’s crops will be   kale, chard, arugula, mustard greens, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, beets, turnips, radishes, parsnips, and more.
The share cost will be $400. We are also offering half shares for $225.  It is preferred that the payment be made at the beginning of the season but we also offer the option to pay monthly with any balance being due at the time of share pickup. If some of the food amounts are not what you desire you are encouraged to trade among other members or friends.

I accept the terms as stated above.  I understand that I am making a seasonal commitment to Gaia Rising Member Supported Farm.     I agree that while Gaia Rising Farm will act in good faith to provide a diversity of produce for the duration of the season, there is no guarantee of quantities or contents of weekly shares.
